About Pennsylvania Weekly
Independent local journalism for Pennsylvania.
Our Mission
Pennsylvania Weekly exists because Pennsylvania deserves reliable, independent news — the kind that covers city hall when the room is mostly empty, that names the new business opening on Main Street, and that tells the story of the neighbor who spent three years turning a vacant lot into something worth looking at.
We believe that strong communities are built on informed residents. When people know what is happening around them — in their schools, their local economy, their government, and their neighborhoods — they make better decisions, get more involved, and build more connected places to live.
Pennsylvania Weekly is part of a network of independent local news publications covering cities and communities across the country. Every publication is built on the same principle: honest, useful, local reporting — without the agenda of a national media conglomerate and without the decay of a newsroom cut to the bone.
What We Cover
Our coverage focuses on the stories that affect daily life in Pennsylvania. That means local government — city council votes, planning board decisions, school board meetings — as well as economic news, community initiatives, local sports, and the people and businesses that make Pennsylvania what it is.
- News — Breaking local headlines, public safety, and civic affairs.
- Business — New openings and closings, local economy, and development projects affecting Pennsylvania.
- Politics — City council, county government, zoning decisions, and elections.
- Community — Neighborhood events, nonprofits, schools, and the people making a difference.
- Sports — Local athletic coverage, from high school varsity to recreational leagues.
- Opinion — Perspectives, editorials, and commentary from voices in Pennsylvania.
Business Spotlights
We believe local businesses deserve the same editorial attention as local news. A new restaurant, a family-owned shop, a service business that has been quietly serving the community for twenty years — these are stories worth telling.
We offer free business spotlight features for local businesses in Pennsylvania. A spotlight is a short editorial piece about your business — what you do, who you serve, and what makes you worth knowing about. It is published as editorial content, not advertising.
For businesses that want more — consistent monthly coverage, promotional content, and a sustained presence across our readership — we offer monthly content partnerships. These are built around your business and your community, not generic ad placements.
